What is the Brain?
The brain is one of the largest and most complex organs in the human body. It is made up of more than 100 billion nerves that communicate in trillions of connections called synapses. The brain is made up of many specialized areas that work together:
The cortex is the outermost layer of brain cells. Thinking and voluntary movements begin in the cortex.
The brain stem is between the spinal cord and the rest of the brain. Basic functions like breathing and sleep are controlled here.
The basal ganglia are a cluster of structures in the center of the brain. The basal ganglia coordinate messages between multiple other brain areas.
The cerebellum is at the base and the back of the brain. The cerebellum is responsible for coordination and balance.
The brain is also divided into several lobes:
The frontal lobes are responsible for problem solving and judgment and motor function.
The parietal lobes manage sensation, handwriting, and body position.
The temporal lobes are involved with memory and hearing.
The occipital lobes contain the brain’s visual processing system.
The brain is surrounded by a layer of tissue called the meninges. The skull (cranium) helps protect the brain from injury.
There are several Brain Condition i.e
A headache 2. Stroke
3. A brain aneurysm 4. Subdural hematoma
5. Epidural hematoma 6. Intracerebral hemorrhage
7. Cerebral edema 8. Brain tumor
9. Glioblastoma 10 Hydrocephalus
11. Normal pressure hydrocephalus 12. Temporomandibular joint
In this Area, We have to cover 3 topics Only i.e
Temporo Mandibular joint (TMJ)
Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is the most common and deadliest of malignant primary brain tumors in adults and is one of the groups of tumors referred to as gliomas.
Glioblastoma is a type of astrocytoma, cancer that forms from star-shaped cells in the brain called astrocytes. In adults, this cancer usually starts in the cerebrum, the largest part of your brain.
Characteristics of Glioblastoma Multiforme:
Can be composed of several different cell types.
Can develop directly or evolve from lower grade astrocytoma or oligodendroglioma
Most common in older individuals and more common in men than women Less common in children.
Essential tremor, also known as benign essential tremor, is a brain disorder that causes a part of your body to shake uncontrollably.
The unintentional shaking motion is called a tremor. Tremor is an involuntary, rhythmic shaking movement produced when muscles repeatedly contract and relax.
However, the following can also be affected:
Temporo Mandibular joint (TMJ):
The Temporomandibular joint is a hinge that connects your jaw to the temporal bones of your skull, which are in front of each ear.
It lets you move your jaw up and down and side to side, so you can talk, chew, and yawn
Problems with your jaw and the muscles in your face that control it are known as temporomandibular disorders (TMD).
Grinding or clenching your teeth, which puts a lot of pressure on the Temporomandibular Joint.
Dislocation of the soft cushion or disc between the ball and socket of the joint.
Presence of Arthritis in the Temporomandibular Joint.
Stress, which can cause you to tighten facial and jaw muscles.
